| Cyflwynwyd
y set hon i Sesiwn Caerdydd gan y diweddar Marcus
Butler a’i wraig Pauline a arweiniodd y set ar eu consertinas. Bu
Marcus yn gweithio fel gwneuthurwr consiertina a thrwsiwr yn Nhŷ
Tredegar ac mae’r set wedi’i chynnwys fel teyrnged i’w cyfraniad i
chwarae cerddoriaeth draddodiadol Gymreig heddiw. Mae'r alawon yn y set yn fewnforion i Gymru: Pibddawns Ynysgai yw'r Isle of Skye Hornpipe; Llawenydd yw'r alaw Saesneg poblogaidd Shepherd's Hay ac mae'r enw Hir Oes i'r Arad yn gyfieithiad Cymraeg o'r alaw gynhyrfus Speed the Plough. |
This
set was introduced to the Cardiff Session by the late
Marcus Butler and his wife Pauline who led the set on their
concertinas. Marcus worked as a concertina maker and repairer at
Tredegar House and this set is included as a tribute to their
contributions to the playing of Welsh traditional music today. The tunes in the set are imports to Wales: Pibddawns Ynysgai is the Isle of Skye Hornpipe; Llawenydd is the popular English Tune Shepherd's Hay and Hir Oes i'r Arad is a Welsh translation of the stirring Speed the Plough. |
