This
is a set of hornpipes. Hornpipes have a skip in them,
being played almost dotted
although they are normally written in straight 4-beat time. The sound files for the two tunes run as hornpipes and the score illustrations shown below the scores of the tunes give a fairly accurate portrayal of this. The Wrexham hornpipe is usually played in straight, as a polka/slow reel, but in this set put together by Bob Evans it is played as a hornpipe. |
