A
hornpipe is played in 12/8 time but is muchj easier to read from a scoe
if written in common 4/4 time, so that is the usual way of notation
used. This is illustrated in this set which includes both forms of
notation and also illustrates the difference in playing the score as
written as a reel. The Gower Reel (Rîl Gŵyr) is a dance tune normally played as a hornpipe and it would be very unusual to hear Pibddawns y Mwnci (Monkey Hornpipe) as a reel. |
